Sergeant James Heitmeyer
Sgt. Heitmeyer was
born and raised in the Gardena area and has
served as a police officer for 12 years, working
patrol, bicycle patrol, gang enforcement &
investigations, and with our narcotic K-9.
When off duty, he likes to spend his time gardening or working on home improvement projects. Sgt. Heitmeyer is currently overseeing patrol, the Honor Guard, and Emergency Operations. |

Officer David Brock
Officer David Brock has served with the Gardena Police Department for 6 years and is currently assigned as a Field Training Officer and a defensive tactics instructor with the department. He also authors a monthly Department newsletter entitled “1924.” Officer Brock has received the “Mothers Against Drunk Drivers” Century Award for his DUI enforcement and the California Highway Patrol’s “10851” Award for his work in vehicle theft recovery. He is also an instructor of “Cultural Diversity” at the El Camino College Police Academy and is working on obtaining his Master’s Degree. Off-duty, Brock is an avid surfer. Favorite motto? “Begin with the end in mind.” |

Officer Vince Osorio
Officer Vince Osorio has been a member of the Gardena Police Department for over 12 years, and in that time, has been a leading officer in the Field Training Program and in the Traffic Bureau. But everyone who knows Officer Osorio knows that he has a passion for training, whether it’s self-defense or police tactics. Osorio is one of the Department’s Use of Force Instructors and teaches at the El Camino Reserve Academy and at a private academy in Torrance. Osorio has also played a key role in the Department’s Tactical Team and was honored with the 2006 Officer of the Year Award. |

Officer Bill McReynolds
Officer McReynolds has been a member of the Gardena Police Department for 7 years. Prior to joining the Department, he worked for Long Beach as a Park Ranger for two years. During his time with the Department, he has worked as a Shift Lead Officer, participated on the Gang Enforcement Team, and is an instructor in arrest and control tactics and use of force options. Officer McReynolds competed a couple years ago for the highly desirable K-9 position and was selected to the detail. He has excelled in this detail and been an asset to both patrol and narcotics detection. He is also an important member of the Department's Tactical Response Team and was recently assigned as a Scout. Officer McReynolds was one of two recipients of the 2006 Officer of the Year Award and is recognized as a model employee and is highly regarded by his peers. He comes to work eager to help his shift and is always willing to do something new to expand his skills. |
